Aura Counseling and Wellness was inspired by the owner, Amy Kappel, from a vision of developing a welcoming and trusting counseling agency whose foundation was built on helping individuals and families rather than on public relations or corporate policy.

Amy Kappel, LCPC, NCC, CCTP-II
Amy Kappel is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and has worked as a counselor in the Nampa/ Boise area for more than 10 years. She specializes in Substance Use Disorders, Trauma/ PTSD issues and how the two issues impact individuals and families as a whole. Amy enjoys working with adolescents, adults, couples and families, and uses multiple forms of therapy including: EMDR Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral, Trauma Focused, Guided Meditation/ Hypnosis, as well as several other evidenced based methods.
Amy was born and raised in Eastern Idaho so she understands the values and needs of Idahoans. Amy attended Boise State University for her Master of Arts in Counseling degree and graduated with the highest honors. She was also awarded the Idaho Counseling Association's Counselor of the Year Award in 2018.
After working for agencies for several years, Amy decided that being able to specialize in and manage her clinical philosophies in order to help others, was more important than how much she earned. Amy chose to continue to pursue her goal of helping others and that is how Aura Counseling and Wellness was born.

With a strong personality, understanding ways, and the ability to bring out motivation in almost anyone, she continues to provide guidance to clients so they can conquer their mental health issues and learn to overcome their substance use challenges. She often reminds herself (and others) that it's about progress and not perfection!

Amy is also a member of the American Counseling Association, Idaho Counseling Association, National Board for Certified Counselors, a IATP Certified Complex Trauma Professional, trained in EMDR therapy & Hypnosis, and she is a Clinical Supervisor registered with IBOL & IBADCC.
